Welcome to KnowSync! This guide will get you set up with your first account and organization in just a few minutes.

What is KnowSync?

KnowSync transforms your scattered documents and knowledge into an intelligent, searchable system that integrates seamlessly with AI agents. Step 1: Create Your Account

Sign Up Options

1. Visit your KnowSync instance and click Sign Up
2. Choose your authentication method:
   • Email and password: Traditional account creation
   • Google OAuth: Quick setup for Google Workspace teams
   • GitHub OAuth: Popular with development teams
   • Magic link: Password-free email authentication

Account Verification

For email signups:

1. Check your inbox for a verification email
2. Click the verification link to activate your account
3. Complete your profile with name and preferences

Step 2: Create Your Organization

Organizations are the top-level containers for your team's knowledge, documents, and settings.

Organization Setup

1. Organization Name: Choose a clear, descriptive name (appears in invitations and dashboards)
2. Organization Slug: Create a unique identifier (becomes part of URLs and API endpoints)
3. Description: Help team members understand the organization's purpose
4. Initial Plan: Select your subscription tier (see Plans & Pricing)

Organization Slug Guidelines

Your slug becomes part of:

• MCP server URLs: https://www.knowsync.ai/api/mcp
• Organization URLs: knowsync.ai/orgs/{slug}.

Best practices:

• Use lowercase letters and hyphens only
• Keep it short but descriptive (e.g., acme-corp, dev-team)
• Avoid special characters or spaces
• Choose carefully - slugs cannot be easily changed later

Step 3: Choose Your Plan

KnowSync offers four subscription tiers to match your needs:

Free Plan - $0/month

Perfect for trying out KnowSync:

• 5 knowledge bases maximum
• 100MB storage limit
• 1 team member (just you)
• 1,000 API calls per month
• MCP server with basic rate limits

Starter Plan - $29/month

Great for small teams:

• 25 knowledge bases
• 10GB storage
• 5 team members
• 10,000 API calls per month
• MCP server with higher rate limits

Professional Plan - $99/month

For growing organizations:

• Unlimited knowledge bases
• 100GB storage
• 25 team members
• 100,000 API calls per month
• MCP server with advanced features

Enterprise Plan - $$$/month

For large organizations:

• Unlimited everything
• 1TB storage
• Unlimited team members
• Unlimited API calls (fair use)
• Custom MCP servers and rate limits
• SSO/SAML integration
• Dedicated account manager

Step 4: Complete Setup

For Free Plan Users

1. Verify email (if not already done)
2. Complete profile setup
3. Start uploading documents (up to 3 files, 5MB each)

For Paid Plan Users

1. Choose billing cycle (monthly or annual)
2. Add payment method via secure Stripe checkout
3. Complete organization setup
4. Invite team members and set roles
